BENTON - Buford "Woody" Wood, age 90, of Benton, Ky., died Friday, August 12, 2011, at Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah, Ky.
He was a member of Calvert City Church of Christ and served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He retired from BF Goodrich, where he worked as an Instrument Supervisor.
He was the son of the late Buford Wood and the late Vergie Wells Wood.
He is survived by one daughter, Lori Clark, Benton, Ky.; four sisters, Opal Gordon, Louisville, Ky., Martha Quiggley, Glasgow, Ky., Dorothy "Tillie" Shelton, Charlotte, N.C., Sarah Wooton, Grosse Pointe, Mich.; two brothers, Kenneth Wood, Glasgow, Ky., Bobby Wood, Bowling Green, Ky.; grandchildren, Melissa Noles, Calvert City, Ky., Joshua Vied, Murray, Ky.; and great-grandchildren, Anna, Ava, and Addison Noles.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Earl Wood.
Arrangements are being handled by Collier Funeral Home, P.O. Box 492, Benton, KY.
Funeral service will be at Collier Funeral Chapel at 2 p.m. Sunday, August 14, 2011, Lance Cordle officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Paducah, Ky., with military rites.
Visitation will be held at Collier Funeral Home on Saturday, August 13, 2011, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
