Charles E. Copeland, 68, of Paducah died at 10:36 p.m. Thursday at Lourdes hospital.
Mr. Copeland was retired from the United States Enrichment Corporation, where he was in the maintenance department. He was also a retired jailer from the McCracken County Regional Jail. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and of the Baptist faith.
He was a member of Stone Square Lodge No. 5, F & AM, where he was past master; a member of Balkis Temple No. 157, a past eminent commander of Malachi Commandry No. 26; past high priest of Mount Horr No. 10 Royal Arch Masons; a member of Paducah Consistory No. 92; and a past grand officer of the Holy Royal Arch Masons of the State of Kentucky.
Surviving are his wife, Patricia Copeland; eight daughters, Adonnus Sains, Vonda Copeland, Constance Copeland and Carolyn "Candy" Hutcherson, all of Paducah, Terra Copeland of Jacksonville, N.C., Sharon Burrell of Columbus, Ohio, Marquetta "Markie" Copeland of St. Louis and Stephanie Blair of Nashville, Tenn.; one son, Anthony "Pappy" Sains of Paducah; two brothers, Calving Copeland and David Copeland, both of Anderson, Ind.; one sister, Carolyn Williams of Anderson, Ind.; 20 grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren,; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward R. George and Dorothy Bell Copeland and a great-granddaughter.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Greater Lincoln Heights Missionary Baptist Church with Michael Pryor officiating. Burial will be at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive visitors from 5 until 7 p.m. today at the church with Masonic rites at 6 p.m. Visitation will continue after 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Pettus-Rowland Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
