Emma Womble

Emma Rose Chandler Womble, 84, of Paducah died at 5:12 p.m. Monday, May 25, 2009, at Lourdes hospital.
A native of Cairo, IL, Mrs. Womble was a member of Melber Baptist Church, and was on the board of Jackson Purchase Area Health. She was named Woman of the Year in 1997 by the Paducah Business and Professional Womens Association. She was a Kentucky Colonel and a member of Lourdes Auxillary. She was a Registered Nurse, having graduated from St. Mary's School of Nursing in Cairo, IL. She had been employed as Director of Nursing at St. Mary's Hospital, Director of Surgery at Mayfield Community Hospital, Director of Surgery at Lourdes hospital and Assistant Director of Materials Management at Lourdes.
She is survived by two daughters, Barbara Rose Womble and Rebecca Ann Womble, both of Paducah; one son, Phillip Curtis Womble, and wife, Sharri of Cottontown, TN; one sister, Rebecca Chandler Baker of Mountain Home, AR; and one brother, Soloman Alexander Chandler of North Highlands, CA.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Archie Curtis Womble; and one brother, William W. Chandler Jr. Her parents were William W. and Maudie B. Hall Chandler.
Funeral services for Mrs. Womble will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 28, 2009, at the Lone Oak Chapel of Milner and Orr Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Cruse officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive visitors from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home and after 10:00 a.m. Thursday.
