Ethel Hamilton Goode, 100

Goode Tuesday, March 11, 2008
Ethel Hamilton Goode, having testified that she received Jesus as her Lord and Savior when she was 9 years of age, at Sesser Baptist Church, Sesser, IL., has been carried by angels from her earthly home in McCracken County to her glorious permanent heavenly home, to be with her heavenly Father and King of Kings, and all her family and friends who preceded her are welcoming her home on the 9th day of March, 2008. We all celebrated her 100th birthday on October 16, 2007.
Our mom, Nanah, friend, sister, and aunt will be so missed here by us and everyone who knew her, but we know she was ready. She said "I'm ready to go to heaven. I'm ready to see Jesus, I want to go home now."
Mrs. Goode loved Jesus, her family, friends, and community and she was always ready to share and show Jesus' love. Moma and Daddy were the first to tell us about Jesus. She was a hard worker, faithful church participator, taught Sunday School, enjoyed quilting, gardening, canning, cooking, and kept her hands busy serving others. We can only imagine what she is doing in heaven!
She is the wife of Clarence Goode (Heavenly resident) and they are together again; the mother of Dr. Dale and Joetta Goode of Melbourne, Fl; Doris J. (late husband Pete) Herrington of Paducah; Emma Dell (late husband William) Garnett of Arlington, Ky, and David and Meljuri Goode of Port St. Lucie, FL.
She is "Nanah" to 16 grandchildren including spouses: Greg and Lydia Goode of Titusville, FL; Sherry Goode of Melbourne, FL, Ronnie and Glenda Herrington, Polly and John Price and Molly and Phil Hunt all of Paducah, Karla and Mike Hogancamp, Steve and Alison Garnett, Robin and Robert Mott all of Bardwell, Ky, and Amber Faith Goode of Lake City, Fl.
Great-Nanah also has 28 great-grandchildren (including spouses) of whom she liked to talk much, and 5 great-great-grandchildren, with two more on the way. She kept up with them all, writing birthdays, weights, marriages in her family Bible.
She is the daughter of Stephen Thomas and Laura Dell (Eaton) Hamilton, is one of 10 children and has 2 earth-living brothers, Roy Hamilton of Marion, IL and Glenn Hamilton of Metamora, IL.
Celebration of her life and homegoing will be held at Milner and Orr Funeral Home of Paducah, 120 Memorial Drive, Paducah, KY at 3 pm Wednesday, March 12th. Brother Stan Durrett, her pastor of 21 years, will lead the service. Her sons, Dale and David, will share their messages also. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 11th, from 6-9 pm.
Expressions of sympathy can be sent to Rickman Road Baptist Church, Mission Fund, 3335 Rickman Road, West Paducah, Ky 42086.
It is our prayer that each one who reads this has accepted or will accept Jesus as your personal savior, and we'll see you in heaven some glorious day.
We thank all who have supported us with your prayers, visits, gifts, cards, love and kind words and deeds, and we truly appreciate the comfort and help from Pastor Stan Durrett, church family, doctors, hospice care givers and volunteers.
We are comforted by 1 John 5:11 & 12: "... and this is the record that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life."
