LEXINGTON - Cora A. (Evelyn) Millican, age 90, of Lexington, Ky., passed away at 8:50 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, 2011, at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington.
A longtime resident of Paducah, Evelyn was born in Anderson, S.C. She met and married Robroy Millican in Oak Ridge, Tenn., and moved to Paducah in 1951.
Evelyn was an active volunteer in the church and community. She was a member of Paducah First Baptist Church, where she volunteered in the nursery. One of the most gratifying times for her were the years she worked with the Red Cross Learn to Swim Program.
She is survived by her son, Robroy Millican Jr., and wife Lynne, of Findlay, Ohio; and two daughters, Jerri A. Feldmann of Newport News, Va., and Sue Lynn Millican of Lexington, Ky. She is survived by a brother, John D. Armstrong and wife, Elaine, of Paducah and a sister, Dorothy Walker of Macon, Ga. She leaves behind two granddaughters, Carey J. Millican and Bethany Schneider and husband, Mark, and great-grandchildren, Sophia, Olivia, and Wyatt Schneider. She is survived by several nieces and nephews, all who held "Aunt Evelyn" in high esteem; and her little dog, "Millie."
Mrs. Millican was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Robroy Millican, and her parents, John D. and Blanche Massey Armstrong.
Graveside services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Monday, April 25, 2011, at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens with Rev. Floyd Wayne Carter officiating. Friends may call after 10 a.m. Monday at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.
