Mr. Fredrick "Bud" Ries, age 79 of Paducah, died at 9:00 AM Monday September 1, 2008, at his home.
Born in Nashville, Tennessee, Mr. Ries was a member of the St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. He was a retired veteran of the U.S. Navy with 20 years of service. Mr. Ries was a diver and served during both the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He also retired as a shop clerk for McKeel Equipment Company.
Mr. Ries is survived by his wife of 51 years, Gladys Irene Sheffield Ries. He is also survived by one daughter Pam Ries Gourley and her husband Mike of Hickory; one son, Patrick Ries of Cunningham; 2 Grandchildren, Tiffany Osborne of Hickory and Taryn Burnett of Melber; 3 Great grandchildren, Taylor Osborne, Kassidy Osborne and Madison Osborne. Mr. Ries was predeceased by two sisters, Mary Genevieve Johnson and Jacqueline Marie Wolf. His parents were Frederick William and Mary Catherine Haggerty Ries.
Visitation will be from 1:30 to 3:30 PM Friday September 5, 2008 at Milner and Orr Funeral Home of Lone Oak. Graveside services will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens with full military honors at 4:00 PM Friday September 5, 2008. Rev. Davin Burnett will officiate.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN. 38105-1942.
