Graveside services for George R. Effinger, 94, of Paducah will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens with military honors. The Rev. Tommy Tucker will officiate.
Mr. Effinger died at 8:37 p.m. Wednesday at Lourdes hospital.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War ll. He earned his law degree from the University of Louisville. He later moved to Paducah to open an office for the law firm of Boehl, Stopher, Gray and Deindoerfer. He was a member of Paducah First Baptist Church.
He was a member of the American Bar Association, a 33rd Degree Mason, a past master of Masonic Lodge 127, Scottish Rites, past Grand Master of the State of Kentucky, and served as Sovereign Grand Inspector General of Kentucky as well as a number of other offices within the Masonic order. He was a member of the Western Baptist Hospital Auxiliary and past president of the Paducah-McCracken County Senior Citizens Board.
He is survived by one daughter, Nancy Effinger of Paducah.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Elizabeth Duggins Effinger; and his parents, George J. and Alice Lorena Felker Effinger.
