METROPOLIS, Ill. - James E. Jones, age 81, of Metropolis, Ill., passed away Tuesday, August 24, 2010, at 4:27 a.m. at the Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah, Ky.
Funeral services will be Friday, August 27, 2010, at 11 a.m. at the Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home with Rev. Jon Cockrel officiating. Burial will follow in the Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
He is survived by his wife of over 29 years, Judith; two daughters, Karen Arnold and Judy McGinnis, both of Metropolis, Ill.; one son, Scott Jones of Pleasant View, Tenn.; one stepson, Kerry Green and wife Kim of Lone Oak, Ky.; four sisters and one brother; 12 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Mallory and Allie Jones; one brother, Hayden Jones; and 2 stepdaughters.
He was retired from Barkley Air Field as an Air Traffic Control Tower Chief after 50 years of service, and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Metropolis.
Friends may call at the Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home Thursday from 6 until 8 p.m.
