Funeral services for John "Pete" W. Hodges, 82, of Paducah, Ky., will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 27, 2010, at Hughes Funeral Home of Paducah with the Rev. Monte Hodges and Brian Hodge officiating. Burial, with military rites, will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
Pete died at 9:36 p.m. Wednesday, February 24, 2010, at his home.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during World War II, a retired truck driver and a member of Rosebower Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, LaWanda Hodges; two daughters, Donna Long of Paducah and Annette Nimmo of Benton; two sons, Monte Hodges of Benton and Bobby Skaggs of Pearl, Miss.; five grandchildren, Crystal Shelton, Stephanie Hodges Courtney, Justin Hodges, April Skaggs and Jay Nimmo; six great-grandchildren, Valarie Shelton, Nicole Shelton, Trey Taylor, Tessa Taylor, Daniel Shelton and Isaac Courtney; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Bessie J. Rudolph Hodges; his parents, Murray and Verba Hodges; three brothers, Rev. George "Buck" Hodge, Marion Byrd Hodges and Thomas "Mutt" Hodges; and four sisters, Mamie Mildred Hodges, Mildred Louise Hodges, Eva Lee Perdew Tucker and Bess Walker.
Visitation will be at 5 p.m. today, February 26, 2010, at Hughes Funeral Home of Paducah.
