SYMSONIA - Margie E. Melcher, 78, of Symsonia passed away at 10:35 a.m. Friday, February 4, 2011, at Western Baptist Hospital.
She was born in Metropolis, Illinois, on April 7, 1932, one of nine children of the late Hubert J. and Lillian Mae Croft Anderson.
She married Edward Melcher on January 12, 1950, who preceded her in death.
She was an active member of Victory Assembly Worship Center and a graduate of Kingsway Missionary Institute of McAllen, Texas.
She is survived by two sons, Darrel E. Melcher and wife Paula of Symsonia and Glen E. Melcher and wife Samorn of Reidland; one daughter, Brenda McElwayne and husband Perry of Symsonia; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband and parents, five brothers, three sisters, and one grandson precede her in death.
Funeral services for Mrs. Melcher will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Lone Oak Chapel of Milner & Orr Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary K. DeRossett officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will begin at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
