Margie Peyton Overstreet, 91, of Lone Oak, Ky., passed away Monday, August 12, 2013, surrounded by her daughter and son-in-law.
She was a lifelong resident of Paducah. She was a member of Massac United Methodist Church, where she served as secretary of the Massac United Methodist Women for many years, McCracken County Quilt Club and Homemakers Club "98" (former president). She also served as a Girl Scout Troop Leader.
She graduated from the first nursing class of Western Baptist Hospital in 1961 and worked as a licensed practical nurse in Paducah. She loved quilting, boating, fishing, travel, antiques, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, Alton Andrew Overstreet; her sister, Edna Griffin, and her brother, Charles "Lindy" Peyton. She was born on November 9, 1921, to parents, Chester and Mary Bumpous Peyton.
Margie is survived by her daughter, Phyllis A. Moore (John C. Moore) of Paducah; her granddaughters, Jennifer A. Moore and Angela B. Moore (Michael Schnuerle) of Louisville; her great-grandchildren, Vivian Mary Schnuerle and Clinton Andrew Schnuerle of Louisville; her brother, Rolf Boyd Peyton (Rose) of Hiram, Georgia; and her sister, Sue Peyton Bollinger of Paducah; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be on Wednesday, August 14, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Lone Oak Chapel of Milner and Orr Funeral Home with the Revs. John Smithmier and Gregory Waldrop officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Tuesday, August 13, 2013, at Lone Oak Chapel of Milner & Orr Funeral Home.
