Jean Smart Hannon, 87, of Paducah, Ky., passed away at 3:53 a.m. Saturday, May 25, 2013, at Baptist Health Paducah.
She was born in Equality, Ala. Jean was a member of the Fountain Avenue United Methodist Church for 57 years where she was a member of the United Methodist Women's Society. Jean was a member of the Homemakers Club and had received the Homemaker of the year award and she was a member of her neighborhood Bible Study Class.
Jean is survived by her daughters, Judy Hannon Tucker and husband Kenny of Murray, Ky., and Jennifer Hannon Gay and husband Gary of Paducah, Ky.; her son, Carl D. Hannon, Jr. and wife Linda of Kevil, Ky.; her brother, Don Smart of Morris, Ill.; six grandchildren, Emily Gay Kreutzer, Audrey Gay Bradley, Logan Gay, Kevin Tucker, Shane Hannon, and Shara Romaine; 14 great-grandchildren, Owen Tucker, Hudson Tucker, Blake Romaine, Carly Romaine, Darby Jo Romaine, Eliot Romaine, Khalyn Hannon, Ethan Hannon, Olivia Hannon, Jackson Kreutzer, Scarlett Kreutzer, Alice Bradley, Rexford Gay and Luke Gay; three nieces; and one nephew.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Carlton D. Hannon; and two sisters, Edna Frances Smart and Betty Smart Wilson. Her parents were Luther Melton Smart and Mattie Bryant Smart.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 29, 2013, at the Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Rev. Gregory Waldrop and Dr. Joe Beal officiating. Burial will follow in the Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2013, at the Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.
