Mary Ellen Vaughan Pfost, 85, of Hendron died at 12:45 a.m. Tuesday, August 4, 2009, at Lourdes hospital.
Mrs. Pfost was a member of Bellview Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School. She retired from Martin Marietta as an Executive Secretary. Mrs. Pfost was born July 28, 1924, in Centralia, Ill. She was a graduate of Paducah Community College and Murray State University. She was Past-President of Hendron PTA; Past-President of the State of Kentucky PTA; Founder of Boy Scout Troop 29, Paducah, Ky.; Past-President, International Association of Administrative Professionals Paducah Chapter; Past-President, Kentucky Division of the International Association of Administrative Professionals; Board Chairperson, Vista Grande Retirement Center PSI, Rio Rancho, New Mexico; Past-President, Paducah Women's Club; a member of the Crime Stoppers Board; a member of American Cancer Society Board; and a member of the Board of McAuley Manor.
She is survived by two sons, Thomas E. Fielder and wife Elizabeth of Lexington, Ky., and David F. Fielder and wife Debbie of Paducah; seven grandchildren, Kristin Ruth Fielder, Vaughan Ashlie Fielder, Austin Clay Thomas Fielder, Graham Kennedy Fielder, Jessie Thomas Fielder, John David Fielder, and Rachel Ann Fielder; and one great-grandchild, Maya Ruth Farrell.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Thomas Pfost; a son, Michael Jay Pfost; and a brother, Thomas Artelle Vaughan. Her parents were Rupert Artelle and Alma Faye Henley Vaughan.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Dr. E. Lee James officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
