Noel W. Meek, 88, of Paducah, Ky., died Wednesday, May 12, 2010, at Parkview Nursing Center in Paducah, Ky.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 15, 2010, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with officiants the Rev. Steve Coy and Lyle Gillespie. Burial will immediately follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Meek was a World War II veteran who attained the rank of master sergeant in the U.S. Air Force. He served with the 376th Bomber Group and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, Silver Star, Air Medal, American Defense Service Medal and the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with four Bronze Stars. He retired from TVA after 36 years as Assistant Superintendent of Kentucky Dam. He was also a member of Christian Assembly Church of Millstadt, Illinois.
Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Lena (Thomas) Meek; one daughter, Emily Suzanne Gillespie and husband Lyle of Louisville, Ky.; and three grandsons, Aaron Lyle Gillespie, Ryan Ellis Gillespie and Aaron Michael Gutknecht, all of Louisville, Ky.
Mr. Meek was preceded in death by his parents, William Franklin and Ollie Mae (Britton) Meek; one sister, Mary Alice Freeman; and one brother, Norris C. Meek.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour Saturday, May 15, 2010, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.
