WINGO - Mrs. Evon Smithey, age 84, of Wingo, Ky. passed away on Sunday, June 12, 2011, at 10:25 a.m. at the Jackson Purchase Medical Center.
She was a member of the Wingo Cumberland Presbyterian Church, a member of the Wingo Women's Club, and she was a homemaker.
Mrs. Smithey is survived by her daughter, Susie (Bill) Brown of Wingo, Ky.; daughter, Sandi Ross of Oak Park, Ill.; sister, Bernice Blevins of Jefferson, N.C.; sister, Selma Anderson of Galax, Va.; eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her husband, Lowell Smithey; parents, Walter and Maude Jones Dickson; three brothers, Kent, Pearne, and Kyle Dickson.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 16, 2011, at 11 a.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Wingo, Ky., with Rev. R.B. Mays, Rev. David Gargus, and Rev. Gregg Hussey officiating. Burial will follow in the Mayfield Memory Gardens. Friends may call after 4 p.m. on Wednesday, June 15, 2011, at the Brown Funeral Home in Wingo.
Her grandchildren will serve as pallbearers: Gregg Hyppolite, Tron Ross, Maria Ross Conyer, Mandy Ross, Sean Ross, Jamie Brown, Micah Brown, Sam Brown.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Mayfield-Graves County Animal Shelter, 500 N. 12th Street, Mayfield, KY 42066; or The Salvation Army, P.O. Box 2229, Louisville, KY 40202.
