Robert Breslin Wheeler of Paducah died at 11:03 a.m. Tuesday, November 23, 2010, at his home.
Son of Charles M. Wheeler and Margaret Breslin Wheeler, Robert was born in Louisville, Kentucky, February 9, 1942. He attended Holy Spirit and St. Xavier High School. He graduated from the Wharton School of Finance and Commerce, earning his degree in Economics and earning a minor in Corporate Finance. He attended Bradley University, where he took advanced courses in accounting. He was granted certification as a CPA by the Commonwealth of Kentucky in 1968.
He worked with Wheeler and Company, ultimately becoming a managing partner. In 1972 he joined Excepticon, Incorporated, a publicly held company providing care and service programs for the mentally retarded. He served as vice president of finance and administration and as corporate director. He owned several companies in Louisville and ultimately worked as a consultant in the Healthcare Industry.
On March 3, 1973, he married Glyn Ellen Terry of Paducah, Kentucky. They were blessed with two children, Margaret Ellen Barr of Louisville, Ky., and Helen Virginia Elizabeth Moore of Benton, Ky. Megan and husband Mike have two children, Sophie and Eli. Elizabeth and husband Nathan have four children, Abigail, Dylan Robert, Wyatt and Winifred. Robert has two daughters from his first marriage, Tory Johnson of Louisville, Ky., and Anne Marie Halcomb of Southern, Ind. Tory has two children, Hunter and Mylin.
Robert was a life member of the Speed Art Museum in Louisville, Ky. He was a member of the Louisville Boat Club for many years. He was president of St. Xavier Alumni Association. He was a Kentucky Colonel and a former member of the Lone Oak Lions Club.
Robert was a member of Lone Oak First Baptist Church of Paducah, Ky. He has been blessed by God throughout his life by his wife, children, grandchildren and parents. He looks forward to meeting his savior, Jesus Christ.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Lone Oak Chapel of Milner and Orr Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
