Roy Hankins, Jr., 86, of Paducah died Friday, March 4, 2011, at 11 p.m. at Western Baptist Hospital.
Roy was a member of Lone Oak First Baptist Church, retired from Illinois Central Gulf Railroad with 41 years of service, U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, volunteer fireman for Reidland/Farley Fire Department for many years. He was an avid gardener and loved sharing his vegetables with friends. He loved being with his family and keeping up with his granddaughters' activities.
Services will be held Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Rev. Stan Reid officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
Friends may visit with the family on Monday, March 7, 2011, from 5-8 p.m. at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-six years, Margaret Donaldson Hankins; one daughter, Julia Forsythe (David) of Paducah; two granddaughters, Laura Forsythe and Kayla Forsythe, both of Paducah; one sister, Mary Nell Kibbons, Louisville, Ky.; several nieces and nephews.
Preceding in death were his parents, Roy Hankins, Sr., and Cora Lawrence Hankins; three sisters, Lenora Platter, Juanita Kilburn, Dorothy Jenkins, three brothers, John, Gene and Kenneth Hankins.
