Ruth Ellen Buchanan

Ruth Ellen “Cotton” Buchanan passed away on April 13, 2019. Ruth was born on January 21, 1931 the youngest daughter of Lula Mae and Herbert H. Williams.

She was a member of the champion softball team, Kennedy Kids, during her high school years while attending Lone Oak High School. On June 30, 1950 she married Billy Joe “Buck” Buchanan.

Ruth was a McCracken County School bus driver for 10 years. She spent many years as a Lone Oak Band Booster and loved chaperoning band trips. She enjoyed square dancing and ballroom dancing. She was an accomplished artist.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Buck Buchanan, her parents Lula Mae and Herbert and 2 sisters and 3 brothers.

She is survived by her children, Brian Keith (Sharon) Buchanan, Sheila (John) Randolph and 3 grandsons, Hayes Buchanan, Reggie and Ryder Randolph and one great-grandson Xander Randolph.

Graveside services will be Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
