Thelma Genevieve May, 97, of Paducah, passed away at 2:00 a.m. on Monday, November 30, 2009, at Southgate Health Care Center in Metropolis, IL.
Mrs. May was born in 1912 in Clinton, IL, DeWitt County to the late Walter Cyril Lane and Viola Spencer Lane. Married to the late Joseph Dillard May in 1926 in Bloomington, IL, Logan County. She was a homemaker, a member of Fountain Ave. United Methodist Church and an avid quilter.
Mrs. May is survived by four grandchildren, Vaughn May and wife, Debbie of Paducah, Chris May and wife, Mary of Summerville, S.C., Rusty May of North Augusta, S.C., and Pamela Prather and husband, Mike of Harrisburg, IL; seven great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. A daughter-in-law, Rose May of Paducah, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Dillard May; two sons, Paul Lane May and Vernon May; a sister, Selma Odessa Lane Dulaney, and a brother, Raymond Othel Lane. Her parents were Walter Cyril Lane and Viola Spencer Lane.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 3, 2009, in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens Chapel with Rev. Johnny Sams officiating.
There will be no visitation.
