Velda Fitch Mitchell, 92, of Paducah, passed away at 3:35 p.m. Saturday, July 25, 2009, at Parkview Nursing Home.
She was a retired Secretary and member of East Baptist Church. Velda taught Sunday School Class and the Girl's Auxiliary at East Baptist Church. She was a member of the Women's missionary Union, sang in the church choir and other church musical groups. Her family and her church were very important parts in her life.
Velda is survived by her husband, Jimmie Mitchell; daughter, Carolyn Fitch Anderson and husband George of Paducah; son, James Dale Fitch and wife Valerie of Hatch, N.M.; stepdaughter, Dee White and husband Bob of Columbia, Tenn.; grandchildren, Lt. Jamie Fitch (USN), Brandon Fitch of Murfreesboro, Tenn., and Jana Rose Cooper of Dyersburg, Tenn.; stepgrandchildren, Angie and husband Dr. Shawn Rice, Jodie and husband Dr. Matt Wallis, Misty and husband Richard Collins, all of Paducah, Laura and husband Norm Litterini of Dumfries, Va., and Rebecca Rodriguez of Nashville, Tenn.; 10 great-grandchildren; and several great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Harlan Fitch, and a sister, Violet Mitchell. Her parents were Earnest and Daisy Ralph Lockhart.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 29, 2009, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with the Rev. Curtis Harrell officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be after 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 28, 2009, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.
