Wilbert "Buddy" Brannan, 74, of Paducah, Ky., passed away at 12:32 p.m. Tuesday, January 4, 2011, at Lourdes hospital.
Buddy worked for Walker Boatyard, Walker Towing, Crounse Corp., Marquette Transportation, Igert Towing, Hunter Marine and several other companies as a riverboat chief engineer. Buddy was a member of the former Baptist Tabernacle Church. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War and the Vietnam War. Buddy was an avid NASCAR fan and loved sports.
Buddy is survived by his wife of 45 years, Nancy O'Brien Brannan of Paducah, Ky.; daughters, Sandra Russell and husband, Richard, of Paducah, Ky., Tammera Clement and husband, Tommy, of Paducah, Ky., Leslie Kaufman of Kevil, Ky.; sister, Martha Campbell and husband, Phillip, of Boaz, Ky.; sister-in-law, Joyce Brannan of Paducah, Ky.; grandchildren, Brandi Reuschle, Sabrina Quertermous, Tabitha Wilkerson, Jason Clement, Katie Clement, Becca Kaufman, Timothy Kaufman, Samuel Kaufman; thirteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Timothy John; and a brother, Charles Brannan. His parents were John and Dossie Milam Brannan.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, January 7, 2011, at the Milner and Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Dr. Kenneth Brown and the Rev. Brian Hayes officiating. Entombment with military honors will follow at the Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday, January 6, 2011, at the Milner and Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.
